Digital tachograph system is being implemented in all the European Union and AETR countries. Digital tachograph replaces analogous tachographs used in transport vehicles, drivers of which should maintain the register of driving and rest. Digital tachograph uses identification cards instead of registration sheets. Identification cards store identity of card holders, information on driving and rest periods and other. In order to assure that a driver holds only one valid driving card, all the countries that have implemented the digital tachograph system share information about issued cards through Tachonet system.
State Road and Transport Inspectorate under the Ministry of Transport and Communication is responsible for functioning and safety of the digital tachograph system.
